    Default Henderson....10/2/19....

Very slow morning.....only had 4 keeper sacs and 1 nice bass by 11 AM.....then, went back to my favorite spot for 30 minutes and picked up a 15" and a 12" within 3 feet of each other....finally just got too hot....wound up pouring cold water over my head to remain cool.....my last 2 cranks of the day, had trouble starting my Merc 150...finally got it going and ran OK to the launch....took it to my mechanic and he found a bad gas line...had my 3 YO plugs replaced also...all but one.....said he could not get it out, froze in place....gotta replace the head to fix it....long story short, looks like my 12 YO motor is about to expire.....I can still use this one for awhile....looking around for a 115-150 4 stroke.....any advice appreciated...

Check with Mike at Greenwell Springs Marine. He frequently has rebuilt motors for sale - usually with a 6 month warranty.

    Nice catch PS.

    What was your mechanics recommendation?

Heads are fairly cheap compared to new motors. Stripped spark plug holes can be repaired with stainless inserts which are better than the aluminum. IMO
What make, model, year, serial #, motor are you running now?

    Hey PS,

The plug will take the treads out when you turn with force the spark plug out. If it was mine I'd leave the plug in if its running right. Spark plugs last a long time. If it needs to come out, I'd install an insert. This can be done with the head on.
