Default Looking for someone that can get me on Bull Bream in the Atchafalaya Basin

Hey all, I grew up in Lafayette, went to Comeaux HS and graduated in 86. Left there in 1987 when I joined the army and ended up in Tyler Texas. I am retired and started a YouTube Channel Called Asleep At The Reel. YouTube I mainly crappie fish, BUT I grew up fishing the Atchafalaya basin and used to get into those bull bream that are as big as a crappie. I want to do a show on it and looking for someone to take me out to a spot. I have Livescope and would love to see what they look like as well as to show them on the video. If anyone would like to help, please send me a PM. I will bring my Skeeter unless you have a boat. I am about a 5.5 hour trip from Lafayette. There are a lot of shows doing bream fishing, but NOBODY has seen those South LA BULLS. Thanks in advance.

Seriously, nobody fishes there? That was the thing to do in high school. Leave school and go fishing, or skip!!!

I would live to but know nothing about that area, only fished it twice. Wait till the weekend is over. A lot of members don't post much on the weekends. I guess they are out fishing. Will check out your videos.

Man they are fun. My father and I went there right before I left for the army (To Henderson I believe, right on the levy from Lafayette) and caught about 60 of them. Talk about a fight. I had to get in the boat and get more crickets as we ran out. I left him on an old barge and took off on a 20 minute ride. That was probably my best day of fishing ever! Want to duplicate it, but I do not know how to find them. We just happened into them.

    Hey AATW,

Ive heard the bite has been on for weeks on the ridges with crickets.

You'd proberly have better luck with a post of "Henderson Fishing Group" on face book. Check with Derek James Picard there. He is a very successful Sac fisher. Don't know if he bream fishes but I'm sure he would know someone. He's on the water almost daily.

Them bulls are never a constant in my experience. I can take the boys to a slew of different spots off the bank here in PR anytime if the year and catch nice ones, eaters and fairly larger sometimes but them bigguns might happen once every couple of years....just weird.
Only person I know who catches dinner plates over and over and over is Sonny aka LedHed in California. His fish pics will go down in history.

Wow, that is what we got into in 1987. It was a blast. Will have to look him up to see some of those pics. Thanks
