Default Grand Bayou weekend report 7/21/19

Got off at noon fri and made it out to my 1st hole by 1:15. I went straight out to my A+ hole, I had a hit on my 1st cast but I was too slow to set the hook. I threw right back to the same spot and I felt another tap but no dice. I threw back at the same spot, a spot about 25 feet out about 6 feet past the top which is about 6 feet below the surface in 18' of water and then I let the 1/16 Bobby Garland monkey milk fall while I count down 5,4,3,2,1 then start slowly reeling in on a 4'10" ultralight with 6lb hi-vis Mr. Crappie.
    But nothing!!!
I threw back at the same spot from the same direction and on about the 7th or 8th cast while I was letting the jig fall my line went limp, boom.. fish on and it was my biggest of the day, a nice 14" fat black crappie!
After that, it got slow.. real slow!! The sun was almost straight up with no cloud coverage and not hardly a ripple on the water.. pretty much all bad news for getting a good, aggressive bite when all the crappie are looking straight up for some passing by grub.
I had to move around from top to top picking up 1 here and one there till I ended up with a nice mess of 10 little piggies.
Sat morning after finishing my chores it started getting a little overcast around 10am so I headed back out. The overcast didn't last . I fished till around 1:15 and picked up a few more for a nice little fish fry Sunday.
Anyway.. here's some pics of fish all caught off of about a dozen tops in 15-22 fow with 91 degree water surface tempsName: IMG_20190719_192352250.jpg

I miss seeing you out on the lake and reading your fishing reports Pastor. I know you've got a lot futher drive to get to Grand Bayou now (especially pulling a boat) but if you ever want to just come over and fish out of my boat with me I'd be more than happy have you join me.
