    Default Largo and Bayou Louis

Fished Larto Friday. Tried shooting docks, but that's gonna take some time and practice. Caught 2 nice crappie on minnows, but that was it for the crappie. Caught enough bream for a mess. Some were really big.

Fished Bayou Louis today. Caught about 19, but most were quite small. Still, it was a learning experience, as the were at a very specific depth, so depth control was critical. Too shallow and I caught catfish and gar. Too deep, nothing! The crappie, shad, and gar showed up well on Hbird Helix. Water still high both places, but getting better.

At Larto, there were about 15 boats 200 yds offshore and west of Honey Brake Lodge. Must be something there.

    Nice to catch a few!

I fished Larto last Tuesday. Had a good trip with 19 sacs in the morning and 33 that afternoon(two of us). 13 to 19 fow fish were holding at 7 to 8 feet. Fished the same spot on Wed and caught 2. They can be a mystery.

Keep practicing the dock shooting. You'll get it. It'll be worth the time put in. I caught all of mine at the tournament on 6 docks. All of them on the north side of the lake by Honey Brake.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Some of those are tricky docks. What weight jig do you like?

It really depends on how finicky they are. Most of the time I use Crappie Pro Dockt'r jig heads in 1/24th but if I'm in shallower water or it seems like I'm missing a lot I'll move down to the 1/32. Those particular jig heads hold the jig better than anything else I've used. No superglue needed.
