Glad to say I was out-fished today
Spent the morning at Lake Verret with my little fishing buddy again. He wanted to go after the catfish again and wanted to catch them himself. So I gave him the “good spots” and played guide most of the morning. Ended up with 11 catfish, threw back 10-15, and lost a handful more before realizing my line was bad and replaced it. All caught on night crawlers 2 ft down in 4-5 fow.

After the last couple months I wish I would’ve fished it a lot more. With the MS flooding Old River since November, I think Verret is my new favorite place to fish. Just need to learn how to catch something besides catfish there. Hard to try for anything else when we’ve been catching them so well this summer. Oh yea. Had no problem making me clean them. I can’t say much. When I was younger my dad and I would run trot lines in Old River. We’d get back with 30-40 catfish around 8 am and I’d take off in the boat after bringing the fish up to where he cleaned them and go catch a mess of bream or sacalait while he was cleaning the catfish lol. Now when we go fishing I clean the fish for him and I’m sure one day my boys will be doing the same.
