    Default Toledo Bend 5/28-30/19

I took a few vacation days and went down and meet Marshall (aka "Sweat Towel") at his camp on the Bend. Tues morning we did very good before the wind blew us off the lake. Wed was tough, tough, tough! The wind keep us stuck back in a few protected coves where we found a few tops with some fish on em. Thurs morning woke up to more wind and rain. Made it out to the holes around 10 am and ended up picking up a few more dozen. All in all it was great time! We even caught a few racing crappie Shadow. Hers's a few pics

That is a Black Nose Crappie.

Black-nose or black-stripe crappie are black crappie that have a recessive gene causing a black stripe from the dorsal fin down to the lips. The recessive gene may prove to be an evolutionary change, helping the crappie to see, as well as providing better camouflage when stalking prey.
Black nosed crappie were first officially documented in the White River basin in Arkansas in the 1980’s, and there are unofficial reports of the fish being caught in Ohio in the 1950’s. They have now been found in lakes and rivers all over the country. Black nosed crappie are black crappie in most cases, unless hybridization has happened naturally or been induced in a lab.
There has not been a documented white crappie with this trait.

Aw yeah Meaux we've had this discussion quite a few times on the board. I've caught them on Black Lake, Grand Bayou, Red River, Sibley Lake, Cane River and Toledo Bend. I know Shadow catches em on Bundicks and Andrews' golden shiner awarded big fish has a stripe on it too. We jokingly started calling em racing crappie and I still usually post a pic of one when I catch em

This was my (Nwla sacalait) reply, I still had Marshall's (sweat towel) account active on my phone. I was showing him how to use Tapatalk this past week.
    Sorry for the confusion

Sounds like you all had to work for em but made it worth it!
I see some pics of those "racing stripe" crappie quite often but never caught one in the lakes here in Kentucky I fish. Not saying they aren't here, just haven't caught one
