    Default NO WAKE ZONE

It's official gang..... Not too many places left to freshwater fish. Might have to head to the coast.

Flood waters can be very dangerous, they could have just closed all the water to boating

FOL: Kinda hard to do. There are so many commercial fishermen who have to make a living. There are some bayous closed for now but will be opening up in a few days. The intracoastal has been closed to ALL traffic for a week but due to open today or tomorrow.
I've been on the Atchafalaya during high water and it's a really scary place in a 16" bateau! Saw a couple of 60' trees floating down and almost hit a 15' wooden gate floating just under the surface. If it wouldn't have been for a slight chop, I never would have seen it in time. Could of been bad.
Fish can wait for now. BTW- here's a shot of the Bayou Sorrel landing today. The actual ramps are back by the pilings.

Thanks for sharing. I'm waiting and watching for the water to fall. Need to get back to my Disney world.

For now you can still fish Paloure and grassy lake area. As well as bayou black and rest of terrebonne parish. And des allemands. Lots of places and fishing is good but longer drive for you all subject to change once Morganza opens. Then it might be just des Allemand of saltwater for a couple weeks until it stabilizes

The Mention of Commercial fishing stirred up lots of memories -- and the Atchafalaya.. had several family members fish the river. My Grandpaw was one of them and raised a large family in Melville... You talk about a town where everyone knows each other ,, Ha Ha. we would ride the Ferry Back and forth several times every time we went to visit. I was able to make one last trip just before the Ferry was shut down and took my kids on it for one last ride. The RR owned the property at the ferry launch and it was the only launch for boats for miles.. several years ago I went to a Family Reunion there and was told the Rail Road tore it up enough including the road down to it that it could not be used again,, I would imagine the river did the most of it when the State stopped maintaining the gravel road... My older brother helped pull nets some on weekends. He said everyone went up river to fish because bringing a big load of fish was easier going down Stream. He stopped fishing with them when returning to Melville A big Tug pushing a bunch of Barges almost sunk them ,, He said you can not outrun them to get somewhere that is safe with a boat load of fish
