Default Lake Closures? Black Bayou Hosston or Caddo

    Good afternoon!

Finally took some time off and wanted to try fishing again, but I'm not sure whether Black Bayou in Hosston or Caddo lake are open for boat launches with all of the high water.

Would anyone know the current status of these? It seems like the launches at Mooringsport on Caddo, and the one on BB are pretty low, so it wouldn't take much for high water to make it useless. Just wanted to check and see if anyone here knew before I tried to haul a boat all the way out to either one.

    Thanks in advance!

I do not think Black Bayou is closed. I was up there Friday and the water was at 17.3 but this evening it had fallen to 13.91.
It is dropping fast. I would not hesitate to put a boat in at this point. If I could I would be up there fishing this weekend.
IT appears that a whole lot of salvinia got washed over the spillway. Hope it get some more.

Thank you Charliee. I sure wouldn't mind finding some of those big bream up there, but I'm just ready to get out and have some fun somewhere.

I don't know about on caddo lake but I went yesterday and checked out the ramp on 12 mile bayou right behind caddo lake dam and you can't get anywhere close to the boat ramp there, so going by the water there I would say that the ramp in mooringsport is under water but haven't been to that ramp since the water came up

Thanks Paris. I've seen TMB close here in downtown, and I'm not surprised if Caddo is pretty high. I ended up going to Black Bayou instead. It was still 2-3 feet higher than normal and there was a current all the way from the launch to at least marker 13.

Managed to catch some bream here and there around the trees, but I didn't try the shallow areas. Last time I went close to the bank, the salvina was too thick to get to it. What I caught was on worms 4 ft down in 6 ft of water, or using a blk/chart triple tail.

Nice catch, the last time I went to black bayou, which was about a month and a half ago I found bream beds right at the boat launch, if you look to the left where the yellow lane markers are, that area was covered with them, and also found about the same amount on the right side where the piers are
