    Default Lost a dear friend.

Close to twenty years ago I began fishing for Speckled trout and red fish in Cocodrie. I hired a captian named Lucius Thibideaux to take me fishing. That trip blossomed into a great friendship that has lasted till this date. Within a couple of yrs. I had traded my bass boat for a bay boat and Lucius and I became fishing buddies not guide- client. Lucius gave me all his numbers and taught me about tides and how to set up as well as many other things about salt water fishing. We always had a little language barrier me being from North Alabama and not being fluent in Cajun but over time we over came that. For the past several yrs. Lucius had been in a wheel chair and had to use a walker to walk but he would manage to get in the boat on days he felt like it and go. He was often hurting and I knew he went just to make sure I was going to catch some fish. When I was down in November Lucius was sick and unable to go with us. We hammered the specks on five tough days. We caught the fish on spots I discovered on my on using the knowledge I had gained from Lucius. Lucius said those were good spots but he had never taken me there and when I told him how I found them he pronounced me a true Coonass. That was one of the proudest days of my life to get that compliment from my mentor. Lucius said Coach you listen and learn and most won't do that. Lucius passed last friday and it has left a void in my heart. I have just bought a new Bay Boat and he was looking forward to fishing in it in June. I will miss him sorely. Prayers for his family please

So sorry for your loss. It is always hard when we lose someone but, to me, it seems harder when it is a good fishing buddy. I lost a great friend and fishing buddy a few years ago and still miss him (Sneaky Pete) every time I go to that special spot we use to fish together. Prayers for you and his family.

Prayers for you on losing such a good friend and for his family on the passing of their loved one.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
