Welcome to Crappie.Com
Ive been bass/bream fishing all my life, but last year i started getting serious learning how to find/catch sacalait. My first trip was 17 10" plus fish out of the eunice city lake in early april. The following 15 trips throughout the year i realized how tough they can be to find. Tried various jigs and shiners at chicot, mermentau, and the eunice city lake. I plan on making atleast 5 trips in the next two weeks just not sure where to start. I really want to learn these fish so in a couple years when my lil boy is old enough i can teach him. I really appreciate any advice or tips yall could share with lakes/bayous around the eunice area +/- an hr drive. Thanks.

There are lots of things that will shorten the Learning Curve. there are gatherings at Larto - Toledo Bend , And D'Arbonne -- Others in Mississippi and Texas ... those guys are A wealth of Information and Help. Slab will send you your first CDC sticker-- put it in your Truck .. Buy a Hat and shirt From CDC and wear them till they have so many holes everyone will feel sorry for you... Crappie fishermen will come out of the Woodwork to talk with you.. When you get the Invite to go fish with someone , Go, even if you have to call in Sick at Work... Folks like Skippi Chippi is always ready for a Road trip with his Dog Spot. Spot Points out where the fish are.. several years ago I had the opportunity to spend several days fishing with Professional Crappie guide and several of their friends that came from Miss and Ark. to show what I knew about Darbonne.. I now have A standing Invitation to fish the Best Lakes in Mississippi.. Make Friends and get a fishing Buddy or three .. Older folks that health prevents fishing share your catch with them, when the Crappie are not Biting 10 to 20 Catfish are always waiting for a worm on the Channel edge,,, share those Cats with the Old Folks and their Relatives could become your fishing Buddy.. The Crappie are now starting to get into the staging areas for the Spawn... Take Pictures and make Posts as often as you can. we are all starved for something to read even if the fish are not filling the Ice Chest, Someone else that caught Two more will tell where they caught theirs -- Again Welcome
Appreciate the advice, ordering the hat and t shirt now actually ha. Pretty excited for this year and i work 14/14 soim basically free 14 days at the time willing to go fishing anytime. And more than willing to drive a few hours to meet up with folk to fish. I was offshore for the darbonne gathering and i am going to be offshore for the larto however it looks like its going to be post poned... hopefully it will fall on a date that i am in.

Welcome from Houma. I've been to the Eunice City lake for a non fishing get together. The lake looks very fishy. The more you fish the more you learn. The important thing is to try to remember it all.

Hey,
I live in Eunice . For white perch my favorite two places to fish is crooked creek and cazaan lake ( Ville Platte ). Crooked’s water is muddy but don’t let it fool you, they there and some nice ones too.i normally do best at Cazaans in afternoon , gotta stay until you can’t see the cork no more . Hope this helps. Oh and cazaans requires a smaller boat due to launch

Appreciate it Mr. Gene i like the new decals on the boat!
Cricket ive bass fished at crooked creek quite a bit, normally beat the bank for bass but this year ill definitely have to wet some jigs.
I tried looking up cazaans on maps but i see 3 different lakes and cant exactly find the launch. I dropped a pin where i believe would be the correct lake/launch does that look right to you? I have a 16' 8" bass tracker heritage think that would be doable at that launch? Appreciate the info.
