Let me say thanks again for all of the help you guys gave to me and my family about 4 years ago when we made a family trip to Lake D'Arbonne. Many of you really went out of your way to help us put a few crappie in the boat. Anyway my family wanted to know what I wanted for my 57 birthday and I told them I want to go back to Lake D'Arbonne for few days. So my wife, daughter, son in law, and 3 grandkids are coming to see you this Friday and head back home the next Monday. Obviously fishing is the primary objective for all of us, so I was wondering about some idea of where I need to look for crappie this time of the year and what method of fishing I should consider using? I can do about anything from spider rigging, single poling (new panoptix livescope, my gift to me, LOL), trolling crankbaits, long lining jigs (not my best method). At home we are getting a ton of rain with flooding in places, I hope that your guys didn't get that much rain, but if you did can I assume correctly that the lake will be up some and will that hurt the fishing? Also I'm assuming that if the lake is up that some of it will probably be muddy and are there areas that won't get muddy or at least not too bad that hold fish this time of year? We will be staying at a house on the lake near the state park, it has a boat dock, but I will go wherever I need to to fish. Any help would be appreciated feel free to PM me, call or text me at 870 613 3033 if you would like too. And thanks again, you guys have a great site here on c.com with a lot of good people.

Seems like I've read some posts recently about D'Bone, but can't recall all the details. You might want to do a search for it on the threads for recent ones. From the pictures I've seen, people are catching them! I didn't make it to the last 2 gatherings in Nov, so it's been quite a while since I've fished the lake. Love your idea for a birthday gift though! Hope you have a great birthday, and good family time catching some fish! I'm sure someone will chime in before you go.

Here's one post I found from just a week ago.

I haven't been in a few days. Most of the fish were still in deep water then. I heard the water is warming so they should be headed to the flats. Best bet is most likely spider rigging jigs or shiners. I would try the channel first and if it isn't producing hit the 8-12' flats. With your new electronics you may do well single poling the structure and the edge of the channel.
