    Default Larto gathering

Well I will tentatively sent a date. We will have to see what the weather will do. Hopefully it is far enough out that we will be ok. Let's set the date for February 22nd through the 24th. Uncle buds did say this was there busy time of the year so you may want to reserve a cabin early.

I don’t know Shadow. The lake is at 42.9 ft and definitely rising. We are told that there is going to be a five ft rise in the Red River. That will close down the bridge at the foot of the lake. The Catahoula Sheriff’s office has closed all the area lakes to recreational traffic as of yesterday until further notice. That is a first for them to do that. Name: IMG_0383.jpg

For the Red River at Lock and Dam 1, the Corps is predicting a 2 ft. rise by the beginning of next week then a 4 ft. fall by the end of the month. Looking at the Mississippi at Cairo it appears that the Mississippi River will fall rapidly during January. Of Course rainfall will have a large effect on these predictions. It is nearly impossible to predict what will happen by the end of February.

I sure hope your right. I have a game warden here at my camp now that tells me the water came up six ft at lock one yesterday.

The NWS reported a 5 ft. increase in level yesterday however, that was a report error. It actually came up less than a foot.

    shadow & Ivoohries,

OK, I'll take a shot at it. This is based totally on historical data plus current predictions by the Corps of the Mississippi River.

I predict that on Feb. 22, 2019 the stage level at Larto will be less than 40 feet. It is currently at 42.24 feet.

Water level is at 47.35 this morning. Barring another big rain, it should crest at or under 48.
