2 hours from home is a lot better than that happening in New Mexico, at least he was close enough for you to help.

My son is very unselfish and has helped many others in a bind. He called another trucker that had the set up to pull his trailer. It was 11 PM but that didn’t matter. His friend jumped out of bed, disconnected his trailer and off he went on the rescue. They pulled the broken truck to the next off ramp and then cane back to get the trailer. Luckily my sons trailer has ramps. They used his friends truck to pull my son’s truck onto his trailer. His friend then hook on to the trailer and pulled it to my house getting here after daylight. Yesterday we cleaned up everything. Monday we will repair the broken parts and hope to have it ready for work on Tuesday, God willing.

Hey PPG, was it do to rust or metal fatigue? It would be time for a good walk around IMO. Good luck with it.

X2 Great point, it can’t hurt to take a hard look at the whole truck.

JR it was due to metal fatigue. There were numerous spider web cracks on the brackets. Today I acetylene welded all the cracks and tomorrow I will be adding metal to the stressed areas making it stronger than new. I think they cold work these pieces when they press them causing internal stress which shows itself in cracks later on. The repair I'm doing will take the load off the original bracket and on to the reinforced pieces. Should last the lifetime of the truck.
