Default No crappie fishing but another great trip down to Leeville/Golden Meadow

We made our annual trip down to the coast this weekend. The wind and low water yesterday made it tough but we made up for it today. Ended up with 20 reds, 23 sheepshead, 4 specs, and 1 black drum in the ice chest. All except for the trout caught on bait shrimp. The reds are everywhere down here right now. They wore us out today. Can’t wait for the next trip.

Nice catch. On the half shell is one of my favorites.

I’ll have some on the pit tomorrow most likely.

That's an awesome catch!! I don't have a lot of experience coastal fishing, but I've never caught a sheephead in shallow water...guess I just missed out. We used to pick them up around rigs before.

    Enjoyed the pics.

Full box of meat right there.
despite being a bit difficult to clean I think sheepshead (water donkey) taste great.

We left them on the half shell. Going to grill them like reds. These were the biggest I’ve ever caught. The guide that took us out suggested it.

We’ve caught them before but nothing like yesterday. The big ones were more fun to catch than the average reds.
