    Default Henderson...Thursday...10/11...Lost A Monster...

OK JR, sorry about being late again.....but, I took this picture with my cell phone and tried to email it to myself so I could post from my home computer (I don't like to post from my dumb phone)....and, my email has been down for about 7 days and finally got it back up....shiners as usual 4-6 ft deep under a slip cork....hung a big something just as I was about to quit for the day around 1 PM.....thought I was hung up at first....then my line started moving....fought it for 20 minutes before it broke my 8 # test line....had to follow it with the trolling motor....there was no slowing it down...it would go to the bottom and just sit there...pulling it up was like lifting a huge log....finally got it to surface just long enough for me to get a glimpse of it....one of the largest gar I have ever seen....must have been 6 ft long and around 70 #....15 to 18" across...the scales looked like silver dollars....no way to get a picture....took both my hands to handle it....line broke just as I was about to cut it....got my 30 cent cork back...big bass was 16"....

Even a late post is welcome on CDC ---- the Gar tired you out but tested your ability to do what was necessary to put an Eyeball on the fish

Anything that big would get my heart racing! Sounds like you both put up a good fight, and at least you're not left wondering if you lost a huge desirable fish. lol Congrats on bringing home dinner!

Nice! I don't mind (as much) when I lose a fish as long as I get to see what it was.

That's a nice mess of fish, Mr. Bruce. Congratulations!
