    Default Bayou Louie Saturday morning

I made it back to Bayou Louis Saturday morning. A little bit late (7 am), but I got into Ferriday at 11 pm the night before, so that's my excuse. Started out with nothing happening. Maybe 7 boats in sight and only occasionally seeing anyone catching anything. I kept moving around looking at downimaging, and found a few small schools near a drop off, and got an occasional bite. Kept working in a bigger circle and found a few more, ended up catching 7, but only one keeper. Still learning.

Stopped at Woodson's Landing on Saline Bayou on the way back to the 'port. It sure has changed over the last 40 or so years. Really nice landing, but tons of salvinia! The water intake on my motor is deep, so I didn't have any problems, but it is always worrisome! About the time I got to the main lake, a thunderstorm was headed my way, so I went back to the landing(it wasn't raining there) and trained my lab a bit. I think he had a better time than I did, but it was good to get reacquainted with an old fishing spot.

I hate to here about all that salvania again. The WLF sprayed last year, between that and the lillys and the elephant ears it had the creek totaly blocked.

Salt in a wound is never nice, but I guess an ego is a terrible thing to waste.

    Lotsa luck next trip escout!

And I’d rather scratch on a jig, than shell out $ on feesh to catch feesh. UNLESS my boys are along for the ride.

To each their own, if we’’’re being salty.

No offense taken. I'm just learning about crappie fishing. Bass fished most of my life. I'm having fun learning how to find crappie on my Humminbird and then catching them. I'm slowly getting better at it. What kind of boat do you have MJH? I might have seen you on Louie last trip. And I was using shiners. How deep do you put your shiner if you see a school of fish in 11 feet of water?

    Here's my lil crappie boat.
Right after daylight, they seem to hang on different contours at different depth. Since the lake has filled back up and water is cooler, I've been having better quality and better catches 15-17 fow and 8-10' down. They were 14 ft down 2 weeks before the rain. If you call me around 3 when I get out of church, I will tell you where to target them. I will PM you my # if you'd like
