Thread: Where do Bream Hide in the Summer?

Usually catch them a just bit deeper than spring time.They provide a lot of fun n good eatin...

If you can find a deep bank with Lilly pads or low hanging tree limbs you'll probably find a few.

Find a sand Bar in 6 to 10 feet of water the Biggest Bluegills use it for nesting all summer, and eater size Cats in 10 to 16 just off the bar

One time I asked a guy that bream fished year round the same question. He said all you do is fish off the other side of the boat.
He said he catches them year round. Before we learned we primarily crappie fished in the spring only.

Thanks for the info. I just have not been brave enough to invest the time to fish deeper for those rascals! Normally I just fish for them in the spring like everyone else.

Hope this information helps. I've been catching a few lately and it's been hot down here in South La. I hit them the first hours of the day (6:00 am - 9:00). I suggest you cover as much water as you can, fish deeper than normal, and look for drop offs and laydowns. I use a float, split shot and aberdeen hook (red worm/cricket) deep. I catch bigger ones to include chinquapin (shell cracker) tight lining using same bait. If you're into non live bait catching then use a 1/32 road runner in white or Joe's Fly inline spinner.
