Default A nice start to a day

Wile driving to the lake early yesterday morning before daylight with the window down and arm resting on the door I felt something funny GOOSE BUMPS. I told Spot we were going to have a good day, that's when he gave me the first strange LOOK. The second strange LOOK came later in the morning when I finely caught a fish on the front hooks of my crank bait. I got 4 or 5 good bites on the same bait before I discovered I forgot to remove the plastic tubing covering the barbs on the rear hook. Problem solved and continued catching fish ending with 18.Name: WP_20180725_003.jpg

Ive done something similar more times than I would like to admit, 2 already this year! I keep getting bites on a lure but can't catch them! Usually after missing the 3rd fish in a row, I check my hooks, sure enough the point part has broken off!

Split ring pliers and red treble hooks are a staple in my tackle bag.

Ever sense these baits arrived in the mail and herd how much noise they made the Arkies and Bandits have just been coming on boat rides. I know they run deeper but can't find a depth chart to match this size bait.

They are supposed to run a foot deeper than the Bandit 300's. I just use the Bandit 300 chart and go from there. More times than not, the chart winds up being a reference. What I mean is its a starting point. I usually wind up fine tuning everything to some arbitrary # that just plain works for that particular day. For example, my last three trips out, feet of line out from the rod tip was 40, 30 and 35. Gotta let the fish tell you what they want.
