    Default Old River Morganza 7-21-18

Not a bad trip so far with the boys. We’ve got 7 sacs, 2 barfish, and 1 gu in the ice chest. Lost a few more and threw back some small ones. Breaking the new boat in so we’ve been doing as much riding as fishing. Probably going to try again later this afternoon after the heat dies down. All were caught on shiners in 20-25 fow, 10-15 ft deep. No luck with bream so far which is a surprise but I haven’t tried my normal bream holes yet.

Neither. Tried piers early with no luck. Caught them all on one raft.

There’s quite a few boats trolling. Saw them pull in a few early on.

Didn’t catch anything else. Let the boys swim for a while and rode the boat most of the afternoon. Fished another 30 minutes on the same raft but no bites.

A few fish on ice and some happy boys is never a bad thing.
    Finish breaking in your motor?

They were definitely happy. I caught 9 out of 10 within a 30 minute stretch. Should’ve gone to that spot first.

I have just under 2 hours on it. First hour was brutal. 2nd wasn’t much better but I’ll be able to run normal this weekend. After the first 2 hours I can run it at any speed just not wide open for more than 5 minutes at a time. I never do that anyway so it’ll be normal for me.

You hit the Raft at the rite time for the catch --- Crappie are always on the move, Lots of time following the Bait.

Fish on Line, what you said about "Crappie are always on the move", is a big mystery to me. Can you shed some light on this movement or point me in the direction to learn more?

    Thanks so much!!
