    Default Old River Morganza

Made a quick afternoon trip with the boys yesterday. They've been begging me to go for months but haven't had a chance b/w work and moving. Even with the MS River rising, I decided to bring them to Old River. I didn't bother trying for sacs since I've never had luck during a rise. I tried tight-lining for catfish for about an hour with no luck while they played around trying to see how far they could cast. Ended up finding a little bream hole at the edge of some cypress trees in 8-10 fow. Pulled in a few that we threw back since I figured we wouldn't keep enough to mess with in the short amount of time we were there. I tried getting my 4 yo to catch his first fish and came very close. Had a nice catfish on that fought for a good minute or 2 but ended up popping the line close to the boat. At the end of the day, they were happy after having a blast. We'll be back soon.

It looks like you got yourself a couple of potential "Skippers" there. You can tell by the smiles on their faces that they were having a good time. Have a good time with them every chance you get. Speaking from experience; they grow up awful fast!

That's great 1188. Put a tube in the truck and it pull them around and let em cool off. My boys loved that when they were your kids age.

I wanted to but they’re just a little too young right now. At least my youngest is. I did tell them next time we will go to the big sandbar when we get hot and let them swim. Planning on going for a weekend if I get a chance to pull my camper up there soon.
