    Default Vermilion River Challange

I live only 15 mins from the Abbeville landing and have never fished it for sacs. Mostly because I think it's the ugliest bayou in SW LA. I did fish it in the catfish years and know that back then the bayou had some sacs. I'm setting myself a goal to catch "ONE" and then goal the will be complete. Big goal huh?

Been catching good the last couple of months and that bite is seemingly over. With happy times behind me I'm ready to try something I don't really want to do, but feel compelled because it's close.

Never did try where the tide works so much so would probably need JR to figure it out. No big rains lately so will give it a go Monday. I do see some crappie looking trailers at the boat landing so maybe it's a possibility. Won't be bringing ice so will save gas and $1.75 for ice.

Stopped at Wawee's On The River on the way back from eating in Lafayette today. Picked up some good vibes. Met an old fisherman that said they were doing good in Henderson right now. Nothing showing on CDC about that right now.

Fished to 11:00 with only a perch. What a nasty place. Smelled like Lafayette or Abbeville has a sewage treatment problem. A very unnatural place. A couple of old TV sets stuck in the mud by the bank and bottles and Styrofoam cups drifting in the breeze. Most of the view is the back yard of nice homes with rip-rap along the shore.

I did see one real neat snake that I have never seen before. He was a high floater like a cotton mouth, was long and swam very fast. He had a bold diamond shaped pattern with what looked to be some yellow.

Keep trying mermentau. I hate to see trash on the water.

I think they may have some sacs in there, but it may be hard to find them. North of lafayette near the airport ther is a canal that I have heard of poeple fishing.

As far as the snake, might have been a copperhead. I have seen the swim a few times. And they will try to get in the boat.
