    Default Jig tying thread advice

Hey guys, I've went out on a limb and decided to start tying my own jigs. I have purchased a vice, bobbin, whip tool, jig heads, etc. I haven't bought any thread. (Really I just forgot to do so). So my questions is just what size to use. There seems to be different sizes available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am really a true novice at this but am going to give it a try. Thanks for your input........

210 denier waxed flymaster or waxed flat, it's a good strong thread that you can really bear down on. The waxed flat best for making thread neck jigs because the wind of the thread is loose and basically flat, it stacks on top of itself nice and even. The waxed flymaster is a round thread which is better suited for jigs where you're trying to hide the thread. Either one is fine to use though as I use both, just they make more color options in the waxed flymaster it seems.

I tie a lot of jigs on the thread go to wall mart and get you a couple spools of sowing thread, you will cover it up with the chenille any way works fine. Need to get you some jig head cement & applicator bottle. I personaly don't use a whip, faster with my fingers. When you get started you will love to tie them. Go to u-tube and watch some of those men tie jigs.

Check out FISHING TACKLE for bass fishing, crappie, walleye, trout.Fishing lures, fishing hooks, lead molds. B for supplies, they are in Richardson Tex.
