Orientals love fish that we normally would not eat. My wife's brother married a gal from Thailand and she cooked up all kind of concoctions with fish he brought home. She did not waste much either. She pickled fish eyes for her home land friends that lived around the base near her. Archie, my BIL, said he had to abandon ship sometime because he couldn't stand the smell.His wife's family owned a restaurant in Bankok so she knew her way around the kitchen. She made a fried rice dish with fish that my sons and I could eat a gallon of.
The fish PS caught is what we call a Bowfin or Mudfish. They put up quite a battle on any rod. Never knew anyone to cook one of those but I am sure some have.

We know what they are Ray. I'm not into those things, cut the line before they're in the boat. No way I'm going to eat fish eyes, into smoked brisket myself. But, I'll put the hurt on some gator and fat rattlesnakes though.

I wouldn't eat it either, but wouldn't mind having it on the end of my line for a few minutes. What a fight that must have been.

Shoot, I'll try anything once.

I know some cajuns that swear by them. Say its wonderful in patties. Never had it. Wouldnt turn it down if someone cooked it for me
