I used to fish every accessible oxbow on the river from Port Lake down to the lock and dam. I fished it all year long. I haven't fished crappie or bass in that area in many years but have been wanting to take a boat ride down there to check out all my old favorite spots. I figured the last two years probably messed up a lot of places, but couldn't say without taking a look. The furthest I've been so far has been from the Teague Parkway launch down to Port Lake. I do a lot of catfishing from the downtown airport to the Jimmy Davis bridge though.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.

I'm currently running a HDS-9 at the bow and HDS-7 at the console with both downscan and sidescan. I'm not that familiar with the lake and usually launch at the south 154 bridge ramp. I'll try the 154 bridge pilings and search from there I guess.

I have better luck on the 514 bridge side. You can get a chip of the boat lanes, which is very helpful. I fish the stumps on the south side of Brushy and around Mustang. Just keep an eye on your scan screen while fishing the stumps and you will find some brush piles and fish!
