    Default Homemade rod holder setup

I finally decided to go ahead and make some for my boat.. All I have left to do is buy a few more rod holders to add to the bars and add a little paint.
I used some extra pipe that I had laying around the house for the T, I used a 2.5 inch 3/8 bolt, ran the nut on it and welded the nut to the bolt above the threads to keep it from turning, then slipped the bolt into one end of the pipe with the threads sticking out and welded the nut to the pipe, this kept the bolt straight with the pipe. then on the other end I welded a nut into the end of the pipe. Then drilled a 3/8 hole in the center of the horizontal bar and bolted it into the nut on the vertical bar. The threaded end of the vertical then screws into the mounting plate which will be fastened to the floor of the boat. The brackets that hold the actual rod holders are pipe hangers which clamp onto the horizontal bar and are threaded 3/8 allowing the rod holders to screw into them. Bolting the horizontal to the vertical will allow me to turn the bar like I want it, then tighten it down and I can lock the rod holders in place with the wing nuts. I made 4 sets, two 4 holder setups for the front and two 3 holder setups for the back.. Total cost when finished will be about $250 instead of ordering some for 5-6 hundred.

Looks good Johnny! You know you need to make the trip to Darbonne in November to make sure they are working properly!

Those look very good, Mr. Johnny. I believe they will work. Good job and I will second what Shadow said about you coming to D'Arbonne. See you in November.
