Thread: Toledo Bend---My version

We had our usual great time. Awesome fellowship. Awesome food. And the fishing was better than the last 2 years. We actually caught fish to fry. The raffle was a huge hit and we did real well.Thanks for all who brought items to raffle. So generous!! Many baits were given out and we want to thank those who contributed. Thanks so much guys. They all looked like fish catchers. I will add a few pictures, a couple are already on here, but I wanted to tell my version.

Shrimp peeling party was great. We had a soup and chili supper thursday and then peeled 3 gallons of shrimp. Special thanks to shadow, who catches these shrimp with a cast net, working his tail off, then generously contributes them for us to enjoy. He does this for 3 gatherings every year. He is the type of guy that makes C.c such a good place to be a member of.

This is Ms. Denise, who manages the senior center we raffle for. She was so thankful and proud of us. We were able to make a donation of $590 dollars this year though our raffle and donations. We are proud of this and hope other groups may try it. Contact me if you need help starting up, most items are just stuff everyone has laying around. As they say, One man's trash.....

Something most C.c members who know me will be surprised to see. Winning fish for the pot Saturday. 1.68 lbs. Fishervet and I fished together and could not decide which of us caught the winner, but we had made plans to donate the prize anyway, so it did not matter. Guess God felt like the senior center needed an extra little boost.

Also, I tried for a couple minutes to catch a bass on a little grassy spot that looked good. I was rewarded with this 6.65 lb fat girl in 2 cast's. I was blessed. Fishervet is the best net man ever!!!

This special couple were for me personally, my favorite spirit raisers for the whole event. Ryan and Erin. She was a hoot and cute as could be. This young man is what is right about America. His day job is flying B52's. He is active duty and was recently promoted to Major. Thank you for your service and it was a pleasure meeting you both. He is Smallaxe Allen on C.c.

I'll close in saying, I'm looking forward to next year's gathering already. Thanks to all who came and brought food and prizes and a big round of applause for all who work hard and put in the time and effort to pull it off every year. "D"

might I add that the reason fish were caught in D's boat is because of his persistence and patience......he never once got angry with me.....now that is a lesson I will work on as I have great role model to look up to......
