    Default Casting for perch

Is it common to cast for perch like bass with the small crank baits? I know nothing about this method, I have been thinking about using a ultralight and trying. Any help would be appreciated .

I do it once in a while casting tiny cranks for Sacaliat. Sometimes I do pretty good and sometimes not so good.

I think I'm going to try it, should I try to match the crank baits to the jig colors?

It all depends on what the fish are feeding on.

Why not just use a jig? IMO, they're much better than crank baits.

I catch them sometimes with crankbaits when I'm bass fishing. Let us know how it goes. I have thought about trying them some in the Spring.

Josh I used to cast small Rapala and Rebel minnow cranks to shorelines in the Spring when the sacs are bedding. We would catch as many bass and sacs but it sure was fun.

If you want to try something different, fly fish for them. They're tons of fun on a fly rod.

If not, go up to the Bream forum and read the fishing reports of LEDHED, Alphahawk, and Olegiller. They all use nothing but jigs. I very rarely do a report, but jigs (and flies) are all I use.
