    Default Old River near Morganza

Tried my luck @ old river. River is low. Tried shiners deep by rafts, shallow in mondieu lake. Tried by the piers, deep, shallow both shiners & jigs. Stepson caught one sac-a-lait, nice one. Guy @ Louie's asked how I had done, told him what I did. He says the carp have taken over. Seems this river is on the down slide. He did say that there are some commercial fishermen working the river & they are taking some of the carp out. It seems this river has been on the down slide for the last 5 years. I feel really sad for this body of water that was once a prime sac-a-lat fishery. Maybe when it warms up & the spawn takes place. Anyway, the temperature ranged from 54.5 to 56.2 degrees if anyone is interested.
    I hate those carp ! !
