Not a good start this morning....my truck had been dying on me but it would always crank right back up.....I had a fuel pump put in last week hoping that would solve the problem....over 81,000 miles so probably would go out soon anyway....so not money really wasted....
So, just as I past over the top of the Mississippi River bridge, it died.....here I am right in the midst of all these plant workers hurrying to work plus all the big trucks all around me, and I am coasting downhill with no power brakes or power steering....I was in the lane to get off and go south on Hwy 1 (a hard right then a hard left) to go get shiners so I just coasted to a stop on the shoulder at the bottom.....well, mostly on the shoulder.....in the past when it did this twice, I just waited a minute and it fired right back up....and it did....so, then I headed to Spillway Sportsman to get shiners.....just as I got to the red light there, it died soon as I stopped.....no problem, cranked back up again.....only very small shiners there, so I drove down to Addis to get some big shiners....I was determined to go fishing today....no problem, got my shiners, stopped at McDonalds for a big breakfast, then off to the lake....
Fished 7 to 3.....caught 12 fish.....kept 7....threw back 4 small sacs and one gar.....had one huge choupique break my line.... I needed to strip some line off and retie anyway....no real pattern today....caught fish in 4 fow fishing 2 ft. deep......and fishing 13 ft deep in 15 fow.....no jigs were injured today.....
Coming home just East of the Whiskey Bay bridge, it died again....and did not want to crank......did any of you ever notice how narrow that shoulder is....those big trucks were passing me with about 18" to clear.....I have a CB radio so I warned the big trucks to be on the lookout for me.....finally, it cranked and as I started to pull out, guess what.....yep....back on the shoulder......after about 5 minutes, it cranked and I finally was able to get back home....you think I was not praying the whole time.....especially crossing the Mississippi River bridge at 4:15 PM in the afternoon traffic.....had to take Florida Blvd......I10 was too backed up......got home and unhooked the boat....got to get this fixed before I go back out.....WHEW, guardian Angels were watching over me today.....
I didn't think about that truck the whole time I was fishing.....

Oh, I forgot to add, nice fish!! Heading to TB tomorrow for a couple days. Have not been up in a while. If I have time will look for grits.
Nice fish Mr. Bruce. On the truck I would definitely get that thing fixed before making my way across that bridge again. There's no good place to be broke down but if I had to pick one I can assure you that would not be on my top 10 list!! Glad you made it home safe and get to eat some fresh fish!

You should get a medal Bruce. That kind o problem would send most people home. Not you. You endured. Still fished and did well. Hats off to ya. And yes. The angels above do what they have to do to keep ya around for as long as you are supposed to be here.
