Default Crappie at caddo lake in Louisiana

I am new to crappie fishing. Have been looking for crappie at caddo with jigs. Mainly black/chartreuse. Throwing next to laydowns but no bites. I did catch shooting docks one day when it was middle of the day back in summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should post in the Louisiana forum! Might get a few more answers there!

    Welcome to the Crappie crew.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

I’ve driven across it and always thought it might be tough to fish with the sylvania weed and all the thick stands of cypress.
I used to work with a guy that had a camp there and he said he did good during the spawn when the fish moved up in real shallow water along the banks.
I bet the river / bayou below the dam is good this time of year if the current is not to bad. The areas had rain lately. There’s a public boat ramp below the lake on Hwy 169.
