    Default 7/4 Laccassine Bayou

Hit my old stomping grounds from my child hood today. Water was muddy from Loraine bridge to Teppy's. Then it cleared up and was fish-able. First fish was a big old goo. Caught a few small sacs and bass that were thrown back. Lost 3 nice slabs inches from the net. On one brush pile I caught 6 catfish. I was only able to fish a few of my brush piles until both fish finders went out. Looks like my on board charger plug grounded out on my battery. I still have all electrical on my switch panel. My finders are 3am fuses so I think they blew. My next project is to relocate the fuses so I can get to them without having to remove access plates to change them. I went as far a 1 mile canal. Water in 1 mile and all of the canals in the reserve were black. All and all fishing was slow. It was nice to be where my father took me fishing as a kid. It felt like he was there with me.

Darn, you covered a lot of water. From the bridge to the 1 mile canal.

I sure wish they would give us a ramp under the new HWY 14 bridge.

I saw a couple of guys launching small boats on the west side of the bridge. You shouldn't have a problem with a yak.

Yes and only burned 4 gallons of fuel. Not bad for a 2 stroke 50.

Were they on the North side of the road? Did you see where they left their cars?

They were parked by the water. I pulled up and it looks like the work crew made a make shift launch. Only a small boat could be launched perfect for a yak. They must of used north side to get in. Perfect for a yak. If we don't get rain the water should get good next week.

I'll be checking it out soon. Going tomorrow, but I haven't been to Lake Arthur this year and am kinda wanting to waste time over there.

I might go to the Mermentau next weekend if the camp is ready. I am curious how the water looks on the river.
