Default boat trailer inspection tag checks

Don't know about north LA --- but in the south ( Lake Verret / Lac des Allemands / east spillway ) areas I hear they been doing checks on boat trailer inspection tags. This started the last 2 weeks --- not just boat trailers also campers and utility trailers. Department funds must be getting low. If don't have trailer inspection tag --- probably it's a good time to get it.

I have never had a trailer inspection tag. Where do you get those?

Rediculous I guess the next thing they will be making us get is a permit to haul live bait in our boats.

Got a 2yr one last week at a local car repair shop in Port Allen that does my truck inspections. He didn't even check my lights. Gave him my license, proof of insurance and boat registration, then paid $20 and off I went.

It's just another tax that the state has hit us with.

a friend and I were talking about that yesterday. I was expecting to hear something like this come up soon. I have 2 boat trailers and two utility trailers. I guess I'll be getting them inspected. I heard that the fine is pretty high. Like $150 - $200 . Ridiculous.

I have got a trailer inspection sticker for the last 18 years......since I got back into boat ownership.....I don't mind....I believe in it the same as car inspections.....they are just trying to get the junk off the road to save lives.....I have lived long enough to see lives lost because of the lack of laws to control the trash (cars & trailers) on the highways....it just might save mine (or yours) or a family member.....

these checks are usually the result of an accident with injuries in which a ragged out trailer is involved.....this spurs the victims to demand that enforcement officers (state police, sheriff, W & F) to get the trash off the road....
