Default Cant find minnows? Try this

I constantly fight to get minnows when I need them. I like to be on the water just before sunrise but no bait shops around here are open that early and I dont want to pack them around the day before. I got these to try out. Powerbait minnows. I had 2 other guys in the boat with me. They were throwing real minnows and I was using these of course with the slabsauce. Threw em on a bobber like I would a regular minnow and worked just as well. I was catching crappie just as they were, if not more because I didnt have to rebait. I hooked it in the middle of the back so it sat horizontal like a minnow would. Great thing, they blew through 4 dozen minnows by the time we were done, I was still using the same plastic minnow I started with. I used 1 of these baits all day. I dont think Ill ever worry about getting live minnows anymore. And I dont remember what I had paid for them, but I bet it was less than a couple dozen minnows. They come 18 to a pack. Has anyone else tried these? We were out on patoka lake over the weekend.

    Sounds like they work well.

I had a 14 foot astroglass years ago. Had an Evinrude 150 with a 90 hp cowl on it. They boat would fly.

I've tried them. They definitely work. My brother swears by them. He calls them black beauties. I prefer them to live minnows since you don't have to spend so much time rebaiting. They last longer than gulp minnows, which also work well and they're cheaper.

I have picked these up many times only to lay them back down without buying them... Now I think I will give them a try and see what happens!

While ive had these for more than a year, i hadnt tried them till i read this post.
I used a #8 hook and rigged it like i would a jig with a split shot about 6” up the line.
I trolled it very slow along the weed edges and had 3 solid hits within about 5 minits.
None of them stayed on, so i switched to a 1/32 oz jig, keeping the split shot also.
I then landed 4 in the next 15 minits or so, again moving very slow along the weed edges.
But the next hour or so at a different area only produced 1 more.
Definatly worth trying them for sure , and i will try them in deeper water as you described.
