I’ve been trying for about 3 years now last spring I got some 55 gallon barrels cut them length ways got new peat moss and black kow manure and re done my beds split my worms up in to 4 containers I feed vegg scraps chicken laying food I built on the side of a shed in the shade of a couple trees put a roof on I insulated top bottom and sides made the front where I can remove it now that it’s warm. I have lights that come on when it gets dark to keep the worms in the beds I’ve been fish probably 6 times now and it took me 30 minutes to find enough worms to go fishing it’s like they are not reproduce any worms. What am I doing wrong?
It’s been cool this winter but they had all last summer and fall. Maybe I’m just expecting too much
No Luck - Most likely your problem is the peat moss. I bet the bag of peat moss that you bought was green and white. Switch to coconut coir or composted cow manure or horse manure. Many people, including myself, have used black kow and peat moss for the bedding. I lost Louisiana swamp worms and red wigglers due to the peat moss. I now ONLY use horse manure and straw and let it compost. Second best is cow manure and hay followed by pig manure. Rabbit manure is better than horse manure. Go to "Raising worms for bait" and join and you will find all the help you need plus reputable worm farmers.

I went today to get new peat moss that was the only brand I could find. I was going to start all over but not sure what to do now
About 5 month ago I bought 2 pounds of Louisiana swamp worms to try and raise. I used Majestic Earth peat moss and Black kow from Lowes .So far my worms look super healthy and eat a lot . I keep them indoors, but... I to, i'm a little disappointed with reproduction.
