I kept them from Sept until it got hot again in spring. Frozen gallon jugs helped extend that time some

Small minnows here run $1.39 to $2.00 per dozen. I used to buy 'em by the pound direct from the distributor for $12-13. THAT was a great deal.

By the way, I just bought the largest Engle (30 qt). It'll hold 10 dozen easily, and the mesh net is a great feature, especially with winter coming soon.

I buy 1 to 2 lbs of Fatheads from Dunns when they deliver to my area..About $20/lb and is at least 300 per lb..Can keep them forever in a large trash can with a filter and aerator. Way tougher than shiners in the tank and on the hook. Keep a fan in the room and put 1 frozen water jug a day in the tank. Also, buy a thermometer with the prong to drop in the tank. Keep mine 69 to 78 degrees all summer in the garage.

They are pretty easy to keep once you get them started

in western pa fatheads average $2 a dozen but one bait shops dozen isn't the same as another shop down the road , some shops if you say give me a couple dozen you get 24 , other shops you get maybe 40, so we try to avoid the minnow counters. the moneys not in the minnows its in the other tackle in the shop

Only one that I can think of that is 3.50 a dozen and they dip them one at a time . Store going into Tippah lake . They are dying of old age .

In Ohio most places are $2.00 -$3.00. I invested in Minnie baskets and get my own. This summer I am making a minnow tank here at home. Got all the stuff just need to get my arm healed so I can get to work.
