    Default 56 Gallon Aquarium

I have a 56 Gallon Aquarium that I plan on keeping minnows in. How many pounds could I hold at a time? I plan on buying 4 pounds of minnows at a time. I would buy during week and use on weekend. They would only be in there 1-2 weeks max.

four pound would be around 32 dozen. Minnows are dirty, do you have a good filter system set up?

I keep 2 pounds of medium minnows in about 20 gallons of water. They’ve kept for 2 months. Got a cheap little filter (pump) and 2 small aerators....I change the water every 2 weeks due to fish food, etc.

I'd like to set up a bucket to keep them. How would you keep the water cool enough in the summer?

I just have a 55 gallon plastic drum in the garage (plastic kind) with two hang on the back filters and a air pump keeps around 100+ just fine I keep some small crawdads in the bottom to clean up waste (yes they snag a fish every now and then) I do get some loss but not a ton in the summer I will add some ice to cool it down but it wont get real hot where I keep them. I have thought of setting up 4-5 of them and keeping some of them river prawns in the bottom. That thought was quickly set aside by my better half lol
