    Default euro-crawlers

Would like some info on how to increase size of euro-crawlers. The beds seem to produce good and I try to transfer some of the worms to another bed to prevent over crowding; however none of the worms get to the bait store worm size. I feed them fine ground corn meal, straight from the grinder, no additives and some vegetables such as pumpkin, squash, etc. Any suggestions???

Moisture and Ph have to be right also. You have to change the bedding (we use coconut coir with peat moss)- how often depends on how big the worm bin is. We feed them Purina worm chow with coffee dregs & crushed egg shells to help them digest the food. Only feed them what they will eat.

moisture - grab a handful of your bedding and squeeze, only a few drops of water should come out.
Ph - you need a meter or test strips. Shouldn't be a problem if you neutralize your peat moss with garden lime. One cup to a 5 gallon bucket. Coffee grounds aren't acidic. Don't feed your worms citrus fruit.

I just read all 8 pages started by Ships Ahoy and the thread would not let me post to that thread.. I tried twice unsuccessfully ... The first time was using an old Chest Freezer, I had a Bag of worm chow to feed. Even though I sprayed for Fire Ants where the freezer was placed, they still got in there and ate up the worms then started their whole new Colony in the thing --- the second attempt was an old Ice chest in the shed with the same results .... how can one keep those Ants out of beds
