    Default Bream/gill trap

Hi all, trying to use what I got to make a quick trap for small panfish for bait. I have some crawfish traps laying around. For some reason I'm a better fisherman than a crawfish trapper. Anyways it's a cylinder one from bass pro, I figured I could maybe get some wire cutters and open the holes slightly, but not too big to keep the turtles out. here is a link to it : Bass Pro ShopsŪ Crawfish Trap | Bass Pro Shops: The Best Hunting, Fishing, Camping & Outdoor Gear .
    has anyone tried this?

I saw one similar and thought about making one, but since I had those traps laying around I thought why not use those.. How does that one work exactly?

I've caught plenty of small gills in a minnow trap,be sure to look at the regs on hole size in your state. Here in WV one inch hole is the largest allowed I believe

Been using a minnow trap last week or so in a creek and been catching alot of crayfish. Tried these for bait without a single nibble. What gives with these? The ones we're getting in the traps are really big.

I use a couple strips of raw bacon for crawdads,be sure to isolate the bacon to make it last longer.

That clover leaf trap is all I use. I got 4 of them. I catch anything from gills to crawfish to creek chubs. I always use dog food but rare meat works good too.

We used dog food and hotdogs in our traps. We get lots of big creek chubs and lots of crawfish.

I'm a little confused in regards to the crawfish. We never got a hit on them. Someone recently told me you need to kill them so they don't crawl under rocks or bury in the sand and hide. I have no idea.

The live creek chubs caught cats and smallies. The cut creek chubs caught more cats. The craws caught nothing...

Have had good sucess with crawfish by peeling meat in tails, and using meat less shell, catfish love it.
