Slab's at Watts Bar, and there are big slabs at Watts Bar too! That's me "Slab", catching big slabs there in Tennessee.

The construction of Watts Bar Dam was completed in 1942 creating the Watts Bar Reservoir. The dam created the needed electricity for the Manhattan Project at nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratories after the Pearl Harbor attacks during WWII. Kinda a neat little tidbit of info about the lake I thought.

Watts Bar is a large beautiful reservoir. It's over 39,000 acres in size and has a max depth of approximately 70 feet. It looks to me like no matter the wind direction, ...

The fishing was tough, but through trial and error we finally got into some fish. I fished with Lee Pitts, and he's definitely one of the better dock shooters I've ever shot docks with. In fact, last time out he smoked me while fishing on Grand Lake in Oklahoma. This time out, on Lake Chickamauga, no-one was catching any fish to speak of. Not the Bass guys and not the Crappie guys. We found ourselves making a quick phone call to catch the last Dorena-Hickman ferry from Missouri to Kentucky. How did we get ourselves into this. We were just going to Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee!

Well, I can tell you how we did it. We did not turn on the “Avoid Ferries” option in our Garmin GPS Navigation Unit. You know, you’d kinda think that would be the default, but no, it’s not. If you get anything out of this story it should be this, check your Navigation Unit’s Route Preferences Settings.
