With a few expert taps of a rock William opened up this coconut in less than a minute. With the piece of shell he knocked off, he used it to cut out the coconut meat. FYI, it seriously adds some great flavor if you rinse the coconut meat in sea water before you eat it. This was a tasty precursor to some of the most beautiful snorkeling I've ever witnessed.

Some of you may have seen the recent stories of my fishing trip to New Zealand. Well this is what it was all about. You see, we had about 100 people coming to Williams Dad's birthday party and we needed to feed them. So the that's exactly what the fish we caught was for. Above you see William and his brother Mike standing over our catch. Most of this fish will be smoked for the event.

Can you tell that we are psyched up to get out there get fishing. William (far right) has been telling me about how great the fishing is in New Zealand for years and I know I was ready to wet a line. No, that's not a beer in Williams hand, it's a TUI! Uncle Ed (far left) did not embark on this trip with our motley crew, he was our driver. I just hoped he'd be there to pick us up the next day. The plan was to take about a two hour boat trip and fish just off shore of New Zealand's Great Barrier Island. Spend the night on the island, and then fish our way back home.

The first attempt to drive to Shelbyville was a complete failure. I made it about 90 miles and the car started to run poorly. I was having to use fourth gear to go up small hills. Then it bogged down and went into limp home mode. It seemed to be loosing power, fast. Turning the car off and on brought it back to life but it still did not have the power it should have. I ended up leaving the car at a gas station and going home to get the wifes convertible to tow the boat the rest of the way, I wasn't gonna miss another camp. I had missed Tennessee camp to weeks prior because this same car needed a power steering pump!



Well, her car had no problem. I did not think it would because it's her car that bought the boat up 1200 miles from Florida. Weird thing is, both cars have the same engine and both have a manual transmission. There's a problem with the other car and I'll just have to figure it out. Probably a clogged cat, or it needs a fuel filter. ...

I thought I'd share a couple pictures from the 2015 Geezer Rodeo at Okatibbee, Mississippi. All had a great time. Attendance at these rodeo's vary but in general they are much smaller than Crappie Camps. They are held during the week, when most others have to work. The smaller group allows for some good one on one time. But if you spend any time at all talking to Cray, make sure you bring your "bleeper" cause you're gonna need it. Cray is a great guy ...
