I don’t make any claims to being an expert rod builder, but I have built or refurbished a few rods. Some were graphite, some bamboo and at least one or two that were fiberglass. My knowledge of rod building came primarily from trial and error. I do, however, have to give credit where credit is due. What a day we had today fishing with Jimb, Roy and myself. We got there just as day light was breaking and headed out. About 15 minutes later we hit a big school of fish and it was on. Jim and I wanted to play around with Roy's 997. I have just baught a 998 that I have not hooked up yet and wanted to learn some thinks, but something went wrong and the unit would not run. Roy found out later that it was a battery problem.

We casted jigs for 5.5 hours and caught around 400 real nice crappie. Most fish were between 12.5" and 13.5", with 2 citations at 15.50" and 15". Roy caught the biggest and Jim the second biggest.
