My dad use to fish it alot a few years back. He would always catch alot, but mostly small ones. There are some nice crappie in there, but you will have to sort thru them to get to the good ones.

It has been a while since I fished the lake but I always done better up the river or creek where that no wake bouy is,I don;t know the name of the area. I always fished the tree lay downs in 10 ft of water for white crappie, the black crappie seemed to always bite around the grass.
Thanks allstar, that is great info I will fish those areas first and agin I appreciate your reply very much. GOOD FISHING
I've heard alot of people say they do good at Wood Creek, I have a house on the lake & haven't had much luck w/ the crappie there. Alot of fish, just no size.
Jesus Said: Come, follow me & I will make you fishers of men.
I never fished Wood Creek for Crappie, and only a couple of times for Bass ... but, I "heard" (many years ago) that the Shellcracker were pretty good sized. There was a "place" on the lake, that used to be a orchard, that was supposed to be a good spawning area for Shellcracker. Is this still true ??
Have they paved the roads around the lake ?? Last time I was there, I drove down a winding, steep gravel road, and launched off the side of the bank :p
Luckily I had a breakdown trailer
Is the launch ramp at the dam, still the only paved ramp on the lake ... or have they put in more launch ramps ?? I'm asking for the sake of those that may wish to fish there ... I have no plans, personally, to fish it .. just curiosity.
... cp
Thre are no ramps at the dam (I-75 is the dam). There's a gravel ramp at the "dock" that can be accessed from W-Hwy.80 at Swiss Colony, r.e. Hawk Creek Road. The crappie in Woods Creek are mostly small. Too many folks overfish the population, mostly at night in the spring, and keep small fish. Also, some don't pay any attention to limits either. Large bluegill and shell crackers are few and far between as well. I live in London but don't fish Woods Creek much any more.
I live fairly close to the launch and only been on the lake twice. Nothing to speak of. Some say the Bass are prime target but they don't interest me.
All the locals I talk to about the lake say the panfish are stunted.
There is a small Launch Fee - I think it's about $3 - Not real sure. Maybe a Google search would find Launch info. Below is a Thread on this Site -
