    Exclamation Taylorsville report - 5/4/23

Onready & I made our first trip to T-ville in over a year, yesterday.

Water temps ranged from 57* when we started (around 9AM) and rose to 67* by late afternoon.
Water clarity ... very clear (could see pink RR over 2ft deep at the boat)
Baits used ... I used Pink Road Runner (marabou, custom ties) - Junebug/Chartreuse Devil Minner (Slabanator)
Onready's choice was various colors of paddletail grubs & the Pink Road Runner

We fished the Little Beech Creek area & covered nearly 80% of the banks. We fished blowdowns, stumps, & brushpiles, where we saw many fish hanging out around/in them. Most looked to be sub 10" fish, and those we caught from them were all non-keepers. I did manage to catch two keepers (released) throughout the day.

Most of the fish we caught were male White Crappie in tuxedos (likely guarding nests), along with a few Black Crappie. We caught several small Bass, a small Drum, a few Bluegill, and countless (pregnant) Green Sunfish.

My assumption is that the big girls have came & went, and the smaller ones are in the process of finishing up spawning duties (nest guarding). The females caught had no belly to speak of, including the two keeper sized fish. Many of the males we caught were just off the bank in 4-6fow.

It’s weird how clear it is right now…I’ve actually switched to natural colors the last trip out and it seemed to make a difference. I wish I could have been out there, was a great day for it.

Glad y’all got out Terry. Headed to Barren in about two weeks to fish with some fellas I met at the Spring Fling.
