    Default Peabody WMA

Was thinking about taking the kids and the canoe to Peabody the first week of April to try and get some big bluegill.

We're closest to the Ohio county lakes.

Any tips? Suggestions on what lake to try out?

The last discussion thread I can find is from 2008 & I'm sure things have changed from back then. I'd say your best bet would be to contact the KDFWR for more recent info.

I have friends who have fished that area for years and there is indeed big bluegill in those lakes, but those ol boys are tight lipped. The locals have put in a lot of time figuring out the productive pothole’s vs the Gar Holes, so they aren’t so quick to give up that advice. I’d say take your kayak or whatever it is you are fishing out of and prepare to “pond hop” if you aren’t finding fish where you are at. Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance, but those lakes under 50 acres that are full of big bluegill are a gem, they can easily be fished out with some internet advice if not careful. They are in there, just go out and have some fun, you may just run right into em.

I used to fish peabody lakes all the time 25 years ago. Lots of great hole, lakes just a lot of driving on gravel roads. Lots of great fishing spots. Good luck with your adventure.
