    Default Cumberland today

Fished upper end & had 12 all about same size so i checked one & it went a pound &a quarter. Had a few throw backs too all caught vertical jigging from 15 to 25 feet deep. Tried casting & even though they'd chase we never had a hit so we vertical jigged instead. Main lake was really dirty with creeks clearing up some as we ran up but still a lot of stain. Fished baits i made with the fatguys 2" BA shad in hot pink with chartreuse tail & a chartreuse berkley crappie nibble. It was slow & we never got bit until late evening,

Sounds like you did okay for such tough conditions

Always nice to have success on your own baits. Congratulations

Maybe that’s why I’m not doing any better than I am. I make all of my own plastics both for crappie & bass.

It was definitely slow. When you can’t see a bait a foot under the surface of Cumberland it’s pretty bad. It’s probably a lot clearer down lake so I may go scout it next time. That’s all I’m doing anyway is side scanning looking for trees & brush piles with fish on them where I’ve never fished in most cases & then turning around & fishing it. It’s not like I have any honey holes with crappie fishing being so new to me so I’m probably not doing that bad actually.
