Default Dale Hollow Report and Winter fishing question

Been a long time since posting. Haven't really done much fishing in the last year. That changed through the last 2 weeks and I've made 4 trips over to DH for a mixed bag trip. Been fishing bass mostly but i ran across one huge school of crappie that i have been hitting with much success. the weird thing is that school is definitely not where i thought it should be and i just lucked on it. Probably has 500+ fish in it. Fish avg size was 13" with several 14-15.5" ones. What I don't understand is where else the crappie are. I have looked all over and found some dandy big brush piles in the right depth only to find they hold bluegill only. I've looked at other drops like the one i found this school on but haven't come across another. Anyone care to share what types of areas you would look for crappie over at DH right now? would you have better luck way back in the creeks? I was focused mainly mid/main lake as that is where i do my bass fishing. Either way, enjoy the pics. I still do stop by from time to time and thought i would return the favor as i like reading and seeing other people's catches.

To recap, in the 4 trips, i think in total we had 27 bass, around 100 keeper crappie, and about a dozen big bluegill. Was a fun two weeks. Not sure when i can make it back but it was fun while i could get down for a few trips.

You found a gem for sure ! Congrats on a great couple weeks ! Nice fish !
    Thanks for sharing!
from what I can find from the past they aren’t many folks that fish that area on here or they either keep a tight lip about it .
I have wanted to always make a trip their but can’t seam to ever find anyone willing to share much !
I wouldn’t be surprised since it’s almost February that they aren’t close moving in towards staging areas. Lots fish being caught here on Guntersville that’s in the transition.
    tight lines .
    Too blessed to be stressed!

Very nice fish for sure! Congrats on your success.

Is it possible the fish you found stacked up were in a pocket if warmer water? Maybe a spring or something of that nature warming the water in that spot? Not sure. I’ve never fished DH and have no knowledge of it, just my first thought from reading your post.
    Again, congrats on your success.

Primarily TN but catching some in KY as well. Water has been gin clear mid lake. Didn't venture up in any creeks other than a quick trip up sulpher which was still pretty clear. I imagine that if you they were seeing muddy water they were way up Obey or Wolfe.

Pretty sure this isn't due to a warm water source but i could be wrong. As far as sharing, yeah, folks tend to be tight lipped which i completely understand. For my part, i have spent time looking for additional schools with zero success so i chalk this off to dumb luck. Happens to all of us from time to time. The bass on the other hand i have a better understanding of how to find and catch them out there. The crappie are a mystery.
