So sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. I lost my son and only child in 2005 from cancer. He was 38 years old. It is tough to go thru but keep the faith and one day you will be reunited. Praying for you and the family and friends.

I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and thank you all for the prayers. We are hanging in there but obviously missing our son. The pain will always be with us but it has gotten easier to deal with. We know we will see him again one day. Doing a lot of praying and thinking about the positive times. Still going to Weiss Lake MLK holiday weekend where we will scatter some of his ashes after I get a limit of big crappie. Thanks again to you all.

Got the report from the coroner today. Good news is that it wasn't something like drugs or suicide. He died from ketoacidosis, and was determined to have diabetes. He never knew because he was almost never sick. No primary care physician because he was in good health. Unfortunately, he wasn't well. He was sick all along. I guess the lesson hear is every adult starting at wq should get annual blood work down. Takes 10 minutes and could save a lot of people.

We do feel relieved knowing it wasn't something unnatural like suicide or drugs but stressed that it was very preventable.

Took first steps in my new endeavor to learn to fly fish. Hunter always wanted to take it up, so I am. Picked out my future rod and reel I believe and have lessons set up with a friend who was a guide out west for years. Looking forward to learning.

Good luck with the fly fishing. It'll certainly help keep his legacy alive within you. Prayers sent for healing.

    Hey Jigboy
I see your location is listed as Louisville.
I am just across the bridge from you in Clarksville.
Maybe we can meet up sometime on Taylorsville or on the river and put a face with the name.
Good luck with that fly fishing endeavor.
I fish the river when the water is right.

Sorry for your loss but glad you received some closure. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child.

As for the fly fishing its not as hard as one might think to cast a basic set up. I have a fly rod combo that I bought a few years ago from Cabela’s. One of my favorite ways of fishing for blue gill on ponds. Put a popper on and watch them drill it off the surface. Bass love it too.
When I first got it I just cut the hook off a fly so I could practice on the driveway. I am not a pro and my technique could be picked to pieces by a longtime fly fisherman but I can cast enough to have fun and catch fish. Good luck and enjoy the process of learning. You may create yourself a new obsession!
