    Default Taylorsville Report 10-1-21

Got on the water around 4:00pm and launched at Possum Ridge as usual.
Ran to a couple spots to single pole for a while and caught a couple short fish. Main lake traffic was more than I thought it would be with several people even in the water.
Never will understand some boaters coming so close to me fishing instead of having courtesy to at least move out a couple hundred yards. Oh well, guess I can’t fault them for having a nice boat ride.
Decided to go to a large flat and push double minnow rigs.
After getting 4-14 ft BnM’s set up the action began.
I guess it was 45 minutes or so till dark.
Everything I was catching was over 10 inches. Dug out two small LED lights from storage boxes and hung them from the Mellinium rod holders that gave me very limited lighting along with my anchor light.
Action was pretty steady for quite some time. 2 catfish. 1 about 8 inches long and the other about 3-4 pounds.
Lucky he bit on the port side/outside rod or I would have had a mess for sure.
Anyway I had 14 keepers and about half were Black crappie.
Never caught a black at Taylorsville before.
Water temperature was still 74.12 and came off the water about 11:30.
Cleaned them this morning. Fried them this afternoon(Granddaughter is staying the night and said her stomach was growling at 4:00pm)
I think we ate 12 filets and I took the remainder already fried to my brother and his wife for their supper.
All in all, a great evening bite at Taylorsville.
    Chuck

I figured the pleasure boaters would be out yesterday. Sounds like a great afternoon though!

Sounds like a good trip. Frying fish with the granddaughter is a plus. Thanks for sharing the report.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

Chuck .... I'm surprised you hadn't caught a Black Crappie at T-ville before now

I've been catching Blacks down there for decades, just not of any size until recent years .... but, then I have been fishing the lake since it opened. But I do think I caught Blacks up in the "river" end (VB/Chowning area) in the beginning, and in the past decade or so has been when I've encountered them quite frequently in the "main lake" (Possum/Dam) area.

And yes, I was a minner man in the early years (late 80's - 90's), and only switched to jigs in the last couple of decades. Most of my damage on the Crappie population was using blue/char tube jigs, and now I'm getting them on Lite Pink & Hot Pink marabou Road Runners as often as any color of jig body.

*Note : since Blakemore stopped making solid "pink" marabou RR's, I've had to resort to getting mine custom made. Closest thing they carry now is blk/pink & Elec Chicken, either of which are probably good colors, it's just that I haven't been able to find them at any of our local stores.
