    Default Taylorsville 9-23

Settlers: Water clear but black 76 degrees. 2ft above summer pool.

Chowning: water better color but 72 - 74 degrees

Van Buren: water muddy towards Salt River and as low as 68 degrees up in the river

Fish did not want to bite yesterday, no matter what I used.
I caught one keeper crappie all day.

Fish have been in a bit of a funk, but they were coming out of it on Sunday before the rain and North winds inevitably shut them back down. Chuck Adam’s has been doing well single pole dipping with his livescope in some heavy cover, we’ve both noticed they are really tight into the thickest stuff out there. They are transitioning from the summertime scatters into their early fall positions, mouths of bays, ledges with brush, secondary points and some brush piles in 10 feet of water. I have some pictures of fish just absolutely stacked up on treetops in 20-40 feet of water around 8-12 feet down. The thermocline was at 10 feet on the 6th of September, and oxygen content was looking dangerously low @ 5ppm, could explain the sluggishness of the bite. All speculative of course…these are all good excuses feel free to use those at your leisure. I’ll be out this weekend most likely when they are pulling the lake down, never translates to a productive outing but this weather is too nice to be inside.

Thanks for the info BCO. Haven’t had the boat out lately due to work related issues but hoping all that will be resolved shortly and I will get back out there.

If you look at the COE Temp Chart for 9/23 (which is taken at the dam) ... the water temp don't change much until you get down to below the 20ft level, but the disturbing part of the chart shows the O2 levels are below 5ppm at the surface & get worse the deeper you go.
