    Default Taylorsville 9/10-9/12

It’s been a while but I’ve put up the trout gear, put up my dove bucket and it’s back to biz on my home waters. I have been humbled this weekend, boating 6 keepers over the course of two outings. I caught a lot of short fish Friday, on Sunday it was very slow for me. Caught 4 fish total, 2 over the 10” limit. Did I forget how to fish? Am I too set in my ways? Has the wife cursed me once and for all? To add to my frustrations I found fish very bunched up in certain areas, and just couldn’t seem to get them to bite. Having said that the bite was aggressive at times, others they just kind of walked off with it. I found them anywhere from 6 feet to 18 feet of water, really bunched up tight to cover. Water temp was around 76-79 and clarity was a heavy stain in the upper part of the lake. I still haven’t ventured past the no ski buoys much, knowing that there may be some fish on the lower end of the lake just dying to bite, I can’t bring myself to deal with what’s left of the pleasure boating crowd. Having said all that the fishing is heading in the right direction, I just haven’t got the handle on em just yet.

If you call it that. Sooner or later they will give up the ghost, I just haven’t quite got em figured out yet.
I haven’t fished much in the fall to be quite honest, normally I’m running all over creation hunting ducks. I no longer guide up north or work for myself so I planned on really digging in on these crappie for the fall and winter. I’ll be in Canada and North Dakota for two weeks last week of October and first week of November, but other than that I have a lease in Arkansas that I will only hunt sparingly this year. That all translates to me spending more time closer to home and trying to figure out these fish.
